The cherries are sooooo good. So are the strawberries. They taste so different that the ones you buy at the grocery store, so much more flavor.

I made an amazing soup with roasted red peppers, white beans, and used the collard greens along with lots of garlic and some couscous. I had no idea what I was doing but it turned out so good!

I am currently on step 25, oh and its day 3 of this shit.

In the past 3 days while working on the “little” faucet problem, I had another plumbing problem arise. The stupid tub backed up and had 8″ of water sitting in it. After much plunging, cursing, chemicals, homemade remedies, and snaking, the drain still hasn’t budged. So I called a professional. He should be here in the morning.

Goodbye paycheck…hello pb&j for lunch and dinner for quite a while.

PS-Have I mentioned how much I hate home-ownership?! What was I thinking!??!?!

Here’s the offending burning “tree” before I hit it with the clippers. Yes, the burning bush had not been trimmed in about 5 years and had grown in this monstrosity (on the far right). This pic was taken a couple months ago, and it had grown very full of leaves (and a couple robin’s nests) and even taller than it was in this pic:

There may be no coming back from that trimming, we’ll see. My neighbor assures me that I didn’t kill it. Let’s hope so.

Speaking of neighbors, I have a 90 year old living to my right, and her daughter (who I’m guessing is about 65?), who looks freakin’ awesome and is in great shape. Anyhoo, she came over when she saw me cutting that thing down and helped me tie up all the limbs and haul them back behind the garage. She’s been so great and so helpful. Much more helpful than my own brother who lives with me! I came home the other day and she was weeding my hosta. Love that neighbor!

And the new hydrangeas I planted. I pulled out some small pine trees cause they were looking sad and turning brown. I thought these were much prettier anyway! You can’t really tell in the pic, but one is a pretty purple and one is a bright pink. They won’t stay those colors, it will depend on how acidic my soil is, but they’re pretty right now:

I’m hoping they grow large enough to hide the neighbor. They only mow about once a month, its a disaster over there.

I made a salad from the lettuce and mizuna (which is really good!) and the radishes and bleu cheese. The chocolate mint has been chillin’ in my iced tea and its really yummy. The rhubarb I gifted to my neighbor. She loves it and I can’t stand the stuff, so I’m glad she could use it.

I also made a millet casserole and a wheatberry salad this weekend which both turned out pretty good! Oh, and some Samosa brownies (you know, like the ever-so-addictive girl scout cookies? Baby steps…

So after I got back home I put together my hammock that I bought last year and Mojo found a good spot underneath me and we took a little nap under the big tree.

Now I’m just cooking up some dinner. I got my first CSA bag of the season on Friday. Had lots of good stuff in it and so fresh. I’m looking forward to seeing what I get every Friday. I took some pics and since I’m not doing much knitting lately, I figured I’d post my weekly CSA goodies up here. I really like the idea of being able to buy fresh, local produce and not having to spend every Saturday at the Farmer’s Markets. They are fun, but I just don’t get the chance to go every week.

I’ve been working in the yard a little more, I’ll have some updated pics up soon. Hopefully with the long weekend approaching I will get a lot more accomplished. We’ll see!
